Faunalytics Update

The Data Behind Corporate Outreach

With 40% of all global cage-free egg pledges due in 2025, the animal advocacy movement is at a critical point. In our latest Tactics In Practice resource, Faunalytics examines 13 years of data across 44 countries to measure the real-world impact of corporate outreach. We explore why fulfillment rates for the Better Chicken Commitment (BCC) are lagging behind those for cage-free eggs and what advocates can do to bridge the gap through “secondary targeting” and legislative support.

Mission Overlap Between Animal, Environmental, And Humanitarian Groups

Animal advocacy, environmentalism, and humanitarian work are often siloed, but new research from Faunalytics suggests we have more in common than we think. This deep dive analyzes 60+ organizations to find where our work aligns and how we can pool resources to boost our collective impact. From factory farming’s effect on public health to how habitat conservation protects us all, learn how “mission overlap” could be the key to more effective advocacy.

Fauna Connections 2026 Speaker Application Now Open

Faunalytics will host our fifth annual free remote symposium for animal advocates on September 10, 2026: Fauna Connections. We invite academics and scientists from the social and behavioral sciences or related disciplines to submit a presentation abstract focusing on a synthesis of research. We’re particularly interested in comprehensive analyses, such as meta-analyses or expert overviews, that provide a deeper understanding of topics relevant to animal advocacy. Applications for presentations are due by May 29th.

Globalizing The Factory Farm Webinar

As industrial animal agriculture expands into low- and middle-income countries, understanding the role of international organizations is critical for effective advocacy. On April 21st, Zach Wulderk and Taylor Quinn will present key insights from the Faunalytics study, Globalizing The Factory Farm. From analyzing the influence of development finance to uncovering the perspectives of those working within these institutions, this webinar is designed to equip advocates with the evidence they need to challenge the status quo.

Thank You To Our Volunteers!

The scale of our impact is a direct reflection of the commitment of our volunteers. By contributing to our research library and supporting our internal operations, these dedicated individuals provide the vital infrastructure needed to advocate for animals worldwide. We are honored to work alongside such talented people who donate their most precious resource — their time — to create a better future.

New Research: Food Systems Advocacy In The Global South

Advocacy doesn’t happen in a vacuum, but many global strategies assume a “one-size-fits-all” approach. In our latest study, Faunalytics with The Good Growth Co. developed and tested a new contextual advocacy framework in India to help advocates navigate local political, cultural, and economic realities.

We found that external factors, like religious norms, livelihoods, and government priorities, influenced campaign outcomes 40% of the time. This resource provides advocates and funders with actionable recommendations for conducting “context scans” and organizational readiness checks to ensure your next campaign is built for its specific environment.

 AI In Animal Advocacy

From data summarization to campaign scaling, AI is reshaping how we work. But as tech evolves, so do the risks. Faunalytics examines the "Promise, Peril, and Patience" of AI in the animal protection movement, offering a data-driven look at current trends, the influence of Effective Altruism on tech adoption, and where the movement should exercise caution.

Join The Faunalytics Board

Faunalytics is accepting applications to serve on our Board of Directors! Our volunteer board members have made a commitment to represent the work that we do while providing high-level governance and oversight to Faunalytics. We are looking for people with experience, skills, and/or resources who can contribute to our mission in unique and meaningful ways. If you care deeply about improving the lives of animals by empowering advocates with the data to help drive humane change, we hope you'll consider applying!

Analyzing Prop 12’s Impact On U.S. Trade

When the Supreme Court upheld California’s Proposition 12, the meat industry predicted a national market collapse. Two years later, the data is finally coming in. Faunalytics has analyzed the latest USDA figures to see how state-level welfare bans are actually reshaping American meat production and trade. From slaughter volumes to unnoticed export shifts, we’re digging into which industry claims held up, and which ones didn’t.

Faunalytics

Faunalytics released a deep dive exploring the research on humane education — programs that teach the consequences of animal agriculture and/or respect for animals — examining how these initiatives influence dietary choices, shape attitudes toward animals, and inspire lasting compassionate action.

The organization is now accepting applications for their Community & Research Coordinator role. This mid-level role sits at the intersection of research, communications, and community engagement, building strong relationships with advocates and translating research findings into practical, accessible resources that support real-world advocacy. Applications are due March 15, 2026.

I strongly believe animal advocacy is the most powerful way to save the most lives and better the world.

Hi Jamie! Sorry for the trouble - it does seem to be working on my end so not sure what may be happening. Here's the direct link: https://osf.io/2v8as/files/hcx4k

Hello Aidan! I'm not sure where you are seeing that? We say, "In one social network analysis, a spouse was 67% less likely to smoke if their spouse had quit smoking, 43% for mutual friends, 34% for coworkers in small firms, and 25% for siblings." Can you help clarify exactly where you are seeing that information? Thanks!

Answering on behalf of Faunalytics:  we posted Faunalytics’ Funding Gap of $385,000 to address how we would use donations from Marginal Funding Week. Thank you for organizing this, and best wishes to everyone involved in their fundraising efforts.

Hello! If folks have U.S. or Canadian identification but live in another country that's not a problem, but otherwise we don't have the administrative/payroll systems in place to hire outside those two countries at this time. As we grow we hope to consider employees outside these countries via an employer of record, but unfortunately we're not able to yet.
